Ballasts - Characteristics

Ballasts from ELT have been tested and qualified by Spanish and European certification organizations.

All the ELT ballasts are manufactured according to the national and international standards corresponding to each product.

The mains and lamp connections depend on the ballast type and as a general are:

BALLASTS STARTER IGNITION:

Range of ballasts for use with linear and compact fluorescent lamps in indoor installations. Their main families are:

BALLASTS RAPID START:

Range of ballasts which covers all the types which produce a rapid ignition in linear fluorescent lamps. They can be used in indoor installations without starter or external capacitor. Their main families are:

BALLASTS ELECTRONIC IGNITION WITH HIGH DEGREE OF PROTECTION:

Range of ballasts for use in outside signs. Without the need for a starter or external capacitor. Their main families are:

BALLASTS ELECTRONIC:

Range of ballasts for indoor use to supply high frequency lamps, reducing the power consumed. They can be used in installations without a starter or external capacitor. Their main families are:

Classification of a ballasts-lamp assembly according to their energy efficiency

The efficiency of a ballast-lamp assembly is given by the ratio: lamp flux emission-total power absorption, and is obviously, related to the lamp characteristics as well  as to the ballasts own losses.

Until today, no international standard has established limits for the actual losses of the ballasts, but their use, practice and technological evolution, as well as characteristics, have gradually defined a classification, which, more specifically for ballasts used with fluorescent lamps, is the following:

In order give  to the user selection criteria to choose ballast-lamp combinations suitable for every need, Celma Componets has developed and energy efficiency classification scheme, as well as its measurement scheme.
